Did you know that according to the National Science Foundation, an average person has about 12,000 to 60,000 thoughts per day. Of those, 80% are negative and 95% are repetitive thoughts. If we repeat those negative thoughts, we think negatively much more than we think positive thoughts. Our mind is very powerful. Yet, you probably spend very little time reflecting on the way you think. But, the way you think about yourself and the world around you, contributes to the reality you see. If you draw uninformed conclusions you limit what’s possible. What you think directly influences how you feel and how you behave. So ask yourself these questions to see what you’re contributing to yourself and the world around you:
- How often do I pay attention to my thoughts throughout the day?
- When I think about myself, are those thoughts healthy, prosperous, talented, exciting, loving, optimistic?
- When I think about the people I spend the most time with everyday (co-workers, family, neighbors) are those thoughts healthy, prosperous, talented, exciting, loving, optimistic?
- When I think about people in other communities, cultures, families, are those thoughts healthy, prosperous, talented, exciting, loving, optimistic?
- When I have a negative thought about myself or others, how do I know it’s true RIGHT NOW?
- What am I contributing to the world through my thoughts and feelings?
